My Name Is Kara and I'm Addicted To Cookies

I've been doing primal for about 2 months now. The first month I did great! I didn't cheat. I didn't even eat fruit and I lost 9 lbs. The second month has been not so good...

It started with me getting busy and ordering gluten free pizza for dinner. Do you know how hard it is to cook healthy dinners with a 4 year old, a 2 year old, a 3 month old and a husband who works evenings? But I shouldn't be making excuses. I ended up ordering pizza several times. And then pizza with cookies. That led to digging out the forgotten flour and sugar in our pantry and baking cookies.

Needless to say I have stopped losing weight, my stomach hurts and I feel really lazy. I haven't been eating anywhere near what I used to eat in sugar and grains but it's still way to much.

Today I am rededicating myself to stay away from sugar and grains for another full 30 days. No gluten free pizza. No coconut flour pancakes or sunny pumpkin cookies. Nothing that resembles a treat. They're a slippery slope and I'm not yet ready to handle any cheats. I need to re-learn healthy habits before I can do that.

Have you fell off the wagon before? Will you join me in committing to 30 days? Please tell me about it in the comments.

  1. Wow, I could talk for days about falling off the wagon! When I'm in the groove of eating healthy, I hardly have to think about it. But I have a hard time not letting one bad day lead into total backslide. I don't handle cheats very well, either, because I have a hard time making that cheat meal or cheat day not take over my healthy lifestyle!

I've recently decided to make the whole family paleo at home, instead of just me. That will make it way easier for me--I won't have easy access to contraband!

As for getting back on the wagon, I have finally realized that there is never a good or easy time to re-establish bad habits. It's going to be hard, no matter what--so instead of waiting for a "better" time to get motivated, I just need to do it, stat!

  2. I totally agree with you about doing it now. I'm always saying "I'll start tomorrow." This post was about a week in the making. lol. Before I was finally ready to commit.
