Time Saving Tip: Freeze Chopped Onion & Garlic

I use onions and garlic in almost every savory recipe but I hate chopping them! Especially the onions. Recently I came up with the idea of chopping a whole bunch at once and freezing for later use. It's been such a time saver on busy nights.

First I bought a big bag of white onions and a big bag of garlic. I then chopped them in a food processor (separately) and then used them to fill an ice cube tray.

For the onions I filled all the way to the top of the tray. With the garlic I only filled the tray about 1/3 full so they would be about the size of one clove.

After they were frozen I took the cubes out of the tray and put into a plastic freezer bag for storage. Now when I need onions or garlic for a recipe I just reach in the freezer, grab 3-4 cubes and toss them in the pan. That was easy!
